I selected the ON option in my 40D as I want to see the vertical images in vertical position on my monitor. It works if I open the picture in DPP but not if I open the picture in Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Why is that happening and how can I make Microsoft Office Picture Manager behave like DPP? For reference, page 126 in the 40D manual. Please note that I don't want a recommendation for new software. I actually like Microsoft Office Picture Manager for viewing and some very basic editing of JPEG files.
Inserting several pictures into MS Word at once without using Media Browser. (like 2008) in this Mac OSX Hints thread that says you should be able to add folders to the media browser by dragging them from the finder into the media browser window. I have no idea if this still works. Drag am image into the Word document. If you have an image that is sideways or in any other angle besides the desired one in OpenOffice Writer, you may find that you cannot rotate an image directly within the program. As a work-around.
If I wanted I could easily configure that JPEG files will also be opened by DPP. Happy shooting, Yakim.

But you need to know a few differences between the platforms/apps: On the Mac, you'll find the Layout, etc., options in the Print dialog, not Page Setup (and some of the terms are different but they're easy to figure out). And you don't need to do this part until you're ready to print. To flip the picture/text (since there's no Arrange menu in Word) do this: Select the picture (and you'll need to turn text into a picture first per the instructions in John's link or else using a graphics app). Open the Drawing Toolbar. Expand the Size, Rotation & Ordering section. Click on the arrow next to the Rotation icon and choose Flip Horizontal.
Hope this helps. Please always reply to the newsgroup!. Beth Rosengard Mac MVP Mac Word FAQ: My Site: On 3/2/08 6:12 PM, in article, 'John McGhie' wrote: Here you go: It's written for Publisher, but you can do exactly the same thing in Word.

Word 2008 allows you to cut a text box then use Paste Special - As: Picture or As: PDF.
(Word 2004 only offers As: Picture.) The result can then be flipped and/or rotated as you suggested. The tools in 2008 are no longer on the Drawing Toolbar as they were in 2004, though, they're on the Formatting Palette in the Size, Rotation & Ordering Group. Flip H/V are hidden in the Rotation button. In 2008 you'll also have a Free Rotate handle once the object is pasted in.
Although WinWord 2007 allows even more Paste Special formats I've found them all to be totally unpredictable, whereas Mac Word does very well.
